Transportation Security Administration Requirements When Booking Airline TicketsUnder "Secure Flight" regulations, you are now required to submit your name as it appears on your overnment-issued ID, date of birth, gender, and redress number (if available) when booking airline tickets. The redress number is a seven-digit number issued to those people who believe that they have been improperly delayed in the past due to misidentification. This information must be submitted to the airlines 72 hours prior to your scheduled time of flight departure and identification that matches this information must be shown at security checkpoints. These new requirements will not only reduce the number of passengers misidentified as a match to the watch list, but they will also prevent you from being delayed or inconvenienced at the airport
TSA's 3-1-1 Guide for Carry-ons
- Ensure all of your liquids or gels are in 3 ounce or smaller containers (more than 3 ounces permitted in checked baggage).
- Place those containers in a 1 quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag.
- Place 1 bag only per traveler in the security bin for screening.
